Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings with "Ranch"

This recipe is perfect for a chicken wings fan who is looking for a healthier option. These wings are tangy and juicy and the sauce is still creamy and delicious (even without the sour cream!). Normally, homemade ranch would combine sour cream and mayonnaise, so it can be high in fat. We mimicked the heavy creaminess with plain greek yogurt and it worked like a charm.

For the sauce combine:

½ cup plain greek yogurt

3 tbsp. Light mayo

½ tsp dried parsley

½ tsp dill weed

½ tsp dried chives

½ tsp black cracked pepper

1 tsp vinegar

Salt to taste (try garlic salt instead for extra zing)

For the wings:

Prepare wings by first blotting off the moisture with a paper towel. The dryer they are, the crispier they’ll be! Once dried, pour raw wings into a large mixing bowl.

Next, coat with lots and lots of lemon pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and stir until all are evenly coated.

For the cooking, you can simply bake in the oven at 425 degrees for 30 minutes by laying wings out on a baking pan. However, we decided to grill the wings to get that delicious smoky flavor.

Whether in the oven or over the grill, once those wings are nice and crispy, remove from heat and season again. If you are tossing them in the same bowl as before, make sure you wash the bowl between uses. Coat those wings with lemon pepper and serve.

The homemade “ranch” is a perfect complement, adding creaminess to the crispy chicken. Hope you are ready to get your hands dirty!
